This is the place to learn the latest and greatest about Faraoni Studios. Want to know how things are going? Anything new and exciting? We'll let you know right here. it's showtime: Our friend and fellow artist Ashley McCoy asked us to be a part of the Fantastic Reality show at Smith House in Harrisonburg for the month of June 2008. See our shows section to learn more! a few of our favorite things: Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens will need to take the back burner as we highlight the new top faves: tiles, guitars, and orchids! The main page showcases our first new favorite, the beginning of a line of custom bronze tiles that can be found here in a brand-spanking-new section. We have two more tiles being photographed as we type, so check back soon to get to know Poppy's brethren. If you wish to extend the tile family even further by commission, simply contact us! Favorite things numbers two and three can be found on our links page. Our friends Luthier Larry and Orchid Master Paul bring you not just any guitars and orchids, but true things of beauty. As we realized with our new tiles, there truly can be art in everything. cheese is a kind of meat: As you probably already noticed on the main page of the site, we now have a pic of Green Cheese in bronze! Those of you who came to the show in October got to see it in person, but rearranging our photography space in the studio made for a hefty delay in getting it out to one and all. We hope you feel it was worth the wait. a really good shooooowww: The Fall Foliage Festival was a success, and we even have another ribbon to throw onto the pile! In all modesty, though, we met some great people, enjoyed the support and company of friends and family who came by to visit, and helped several folks cross some things off of their holiday shopping lists. The weather was phenomenal, and all that hard work paid off. We took our exhausted selves on a much-needed vacation and returned in high spirits to find that we had no internet connection. We managed to pick up a weak signal on our laptop's wireless, but the website is managed on the desktop and there was no connection to be had...until now. So, after a greater delay than we had anticipated, we bring you two new pieces in bronze: Reflection and Swan Song. After clearing off the workbench by casting our whole stock of newbies (some of which went right past the workbench and to the foundry, so be prepared for some surprises), we still have a few more bronze lovelies to share in addition to these two, and those will be up soon (cable-modem gods willing). Oh, and be sure to check out our links section to meet a new friend and amazing artist, Mr. Charles Vess. it's show-time, it's moe-time: After taking a hiatus from shows last year to focus on the creation of some lovely new pieces (to be uploaded soon!), we are happy to report that our next show is coming up in the next few weeks -- see more details here. Not only will you be able to see out lovely smiling faces, but you'll be among the first to see our new work -- don't miss out! Also, please see here to learn more about our new kitten Moe, the youngest Faraoni. the group w bench: Workbench, that is. Click yonder link to get a peek at the latest and greatest! all kinds of new: We have added some new links and updated our custom page! fae pride: Check out the newest addition to our links page! little boy blue and the man in the moon: New art! Check out the workbench page and get your first glimpse of our newest piece. a page by any other name...: We've renamed the pre-cast page "Workbench" feeling that it made more sense. The links on the left and bottom of the page have changed to reflect the new name. Same concept, same content (except for the new cool addition of Ken's hand on the page holding a tool...a work tool. Get your mind out of the gutter. Thanks.) Also, we've added a new link to our links page to honor the coolness that is Tony DiTerlizzi. yes, we're alive and well: Some new pieces will be added to the site in the next couple of weeks, but to keep you content in the meantime, we've updated the Shows page with our thoughts on the Richmond show back in November as well as a picture of our booth. what's up with the new main page?: Ah. Very observant. (Didn't notice? Check again.) Our usual sentry, Fairy: The Other White Meat, has moved next to our mission statement on the welcome page to make room for our latest published work, Fairy Tails. The book that features our three lovely ladies, Aphrodisia, can be found here. Sing it with me: Spotlight on Fairy Tails, now! Yeah! Yeah! new work: Believe it. After loitering on our pre-cast page, two new pieces made the transformation from clay and wax to bronze and silver! The Wild Rose Vase can now be found in our Functional Art section of the Sculpture page, and Pop! can be found there, too. Our beautiful Wild Rose Vase follows in the bronzed footsteps of most of our work, but Pop! bursts onto the scene in shiny sterling silver. Both were very well-received when they made their debut at this year's Fall Foliage Festival Art Show. showing off, part II: We've added a new page to this site, called Shows, to um, showcase our, um, shows that we do each year. Mmm. Showy. we're published, part II: We just heard the good word from the fine people at Aristata Publications! Our own Fairy Tails will be featured alongside some of the best artwork celebrating the female form in Aristata's new book Aphrodisia, which will be at a bookseller near you this Fall. Yay! woo-hoo-woo-hoo-hoo: Okay, so we got tired of those Vonage commercials' constant attempts at making us feel stupid, so we decided to give it a try (that's real advertising at work, folks). Our friend Marty has had this service for several months and recommended it highly, so we switched, and as a result, we have a new number: (804) 365-8423. The more times we type it, the sooner we'll have it committed to memory - so, that's (804) 365-8423, people. (804) 365-8423. I'm sorry, what's that? (804) 365-8423!!! (For those of you who feel slighted by our dissing of the toll free number, take comfort in the fact that you can still email us and make it as long as you want for no additional charge. See how we're always looking out for you? Sit back and feel the love.) say it loud! we're froud and we're proud!: Faraoni Studios has been honored with the distinction of being a World of Froud Artist of the Month for June 2005! Click on the banner below to check us out: ...and what exactly have you been up to?: For those of you who may be wondering about new work coming your way, wait no longer. Our pre-cast section has been updated with a new piece, and we've added a new section to showcase our foray into a new medium. Our bronze sculpture will still be featured in the same format, but our "Portfolio" section has been renamed "Sculpture". You will find some of our new silver (yes, silver!) work on a new page, found under the new "Custom" link. There will be more surprises coming up, so take the time to savor this first taste of what's to come. captain's blog, part II: Stardate: May 1, 2005. Ken has finally persuaded Laura to join in the blogging fun. After all the hype, she was so blogging excited to get started! Check out our blogging new blog page, featuring serious and dignified portraits of the blogmasters. Blog on! bannerama: The links section has been updated to include banner ads of many of the sites we honor there, in addition to the regular old text links. Thank you to our friends at Epilogue.net and World of Froud for inspiring us to be as bannerific as we wanna be. If you have a web site and would like to link to us, our banner is below: other people's words: Today (1/25/05) begins a new ritual here at www.faraonistudios.com! In keeping with our resolution to constantly make the site fresh for you loyal viewers out there, a new section has been added to the main page. At the very top, you will see a Quote of the Week, words that made us wish we had said them ourselves. (And, on a separate note but still within the theme of keeping the site fresh, the links section has been updated.) captain's blog: Stardate: January 8, 2005. Faraoni Studios jumps on the blog bandwagon! This blog will be updated frequently, so please check back often. The month of November 2004 will see Ken Faraoni share the pages with some of his idols in the 11th edition of Spectrum, a bestselling book which celebrates the best in contemporary fantastic art. You can buy the book here, and get a closer look at the piece that got this great honor here. showing off: Our last shows of 2004, the Virginia Fall Foliage Festival in Waynesboro and the Association of Virginia Artisans Studio Tour in Barboursville (at the headquarters of Jaeger & Ernst woodworking) took place in October. We met some wonderful people at both shows and sales were great (we are now in fulfillment mode). Our thanks go out to everyone who came to view our work and those who organized each event. We are looking forward to next year!
